NITISH BHATTACHARJEE
Born 1973, Nitish Bhattacharjee received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in art from the Indore School of Fine Arts in Madhya Pradesh.
Nitish’s work that comes in patches of bright colour in acrylic on large expanses of paper and canvas creates a chaotic humdrum on the surface akin to a heavy downpour of rain purging the streets of all mud and stacked up unwanted dirt. Appearing often in an abstract mode his work occasionally features landscapes and skyscapes in variable sizes and vibrant and contrasting palette that generate an aura of understated imagery. Paintings that appear in patches rather than in sweeping strokes allow him to juggle with the imagery that gives it a playful look.
Nitish has had several solo and group exhibitions at this young age including those held at Tao and Jehangir art galleries in Mumbai besides shows in several other cities. His work has been included in Harmony show and a group exhibition held at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Mumbai, where he currently lives and works from.
